There is someone who, despite his confusion, pain, and anguish, still wants to know God and, yes, hope in God. Indeed, in one of the most famous lines in the book, he says, “ Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him” (13:15).
Even if this approach to God, this seeking of God, gets him into trouble with God, he would still seek God. The fact that he is talking to God about his pain and suffering is not a sign of lack of faith in God, but rather a sign of faith in God. This is the matter that he will bring up with God. The issue is not that he has done something wrong the issue is that he is suffering and he does not know why.
“ Can anyone bring charges against me? If so I will be silent and die” (13:19).
What is more, he has done nothing wrong to deserve what is happening to him. Job continues his defense against his comforters by arguing that his insight, information, and wisdom is no less than theirs.
